Coaching Points

When dribbling, try to keep the ball under control and close to your feet by taking softer touches. Look up to see where the defender is, and which direction they are travelling. If the ball is rolling away from you, bring the speed under control again by putting your foot on the top of the ball to trap it.

You will need: Ropes Disc Cones Large Perforated Ball

Bronze Challenge

Can you participate in a game dribbling your ball for longer than 20 seconds without being caught by the defender?

Silver Challenge

Add a new rule to this game for the dribblers and play your version for at least 5 minutes.

Gold Challenge

Add a new rule to this game for the defender and play your version for at least 5 minutes.

Coaching Points

Keep your eyes on the ball and take soft touches, practice slowly to begin with keeping the ball under close control. To make the task harder place the cones closer together. Use the inside of the left foot as the ball moves clockwise around the cone and the inside of the right foot as the ball moves anticlockwise around the cone.

Can you dribble around the cones in a figure of 8 shape three times using only the insides of your feet, without touching the cones?

Silver Challenge

Can you dribble around the cones in a figure of 8 shape three times using only the insides of your feet, without touching the cones and balancing a bean bag on your head?

Gold Challenge

Can you dribble around the cones in a figure of 8 shape five times using only the insides of your feet, without touching the cones?

Coaching Points

Raise your legs and put the soles of your feet together. Bring your heels as close as you can to your bottom and spread your knees wide. Focus on your stomach muscles around your belly button being strong. Use these muscles to control the movement instead of flinging your body up with the momentum from your arms.

Bronze Challenge

Can you perform raised butterfly crunches in slow motion?

Silver Challenge

After a few practice attempts, set yourself a target number of raised butterfly crunches to achieve in one day.

Gold Challenge

Can you complete 25 raised butterfly crunches holding a weighted object in your hands?

Coaching Points

Can you dribble past the hopping defender 3 times with your left foot and 3 times with your right foot without being caught?

Silver Challenge

Can you successfully dribble past the hopping defender with 3 different sized balls?

Gold Challenge

Compete against another player and win the match by dribbling through the gate 5 times without being caught by the hopping defender.
