Coaching Points

Place the sole of the foot on the top of the ball and gently push it forwards, try to keep the ball close to the body at all times so that it is under your control. Be aware of the space around you by looking up to see where the space is. If the ball runs away too quickly, you can trap it with the sole of your foot so that it stops moving.

You will need: Large Foam Ball

Bronze Challenge

Can you dribble the ball using the sole of both your left and right feet?

Silver Challenge

Can you dribble the ball using the sole of your foot for 20 seconds without bumping into anything or the ball stopping?

Gold Challenge

Ask a friend to walk slowly in front of you, changing direction every couple of steps. Using the sole of your foot to dribble the ball can you follow their pathway?

You will need: Flat Hoop

Bronze Challenge

Can you pass the hoop around the body in both directions?

Silver Challenge

Can you continuously pass the hoop around the body whilst moving from a standing to a seated position?

Gold Challenge

Can you pass the hoop around the body whilst balancing on one leg or with your eyes closed?

Coaching Points

Keep your eyes on the ball and take soft touches with the sole of the foot, practice slowly to begin with keeping the ball under close control. To make the task harder place the cones closer together.

Ensure the person you are passing the object too has a good grip before you release. Stay focused on the task and work as a team

Coaching Points

Pull the rope quickly, directly upwards to give yourself the best chance of catching the rope. To catch it; keep your eyes fixed on the end of the rope that you are going to catch and get your hand ready.

Can you catch the rope 6 times, without the other end touching the floor?

Silver Challenge

Can you catch the rope 6 times, without the other end touching the floor and with both feet in the air when you catch it?

Gold Challenge

Can you catch the rope 3 times in a row, without the other end touching the floor?

Coaching Points

The thrower should move around the centre floor spot so that they are able to bounce it into a space, away from the partner. The harder the ball is bounced, the further it will travel. The partner should try to anticipate where the ball is going to bounce and be ready to move.
